How To Choose The Right LPG Valve As Per Your Requirement?

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) constitutes hydrocarbons such as propane and butane. It is an odorless and inflammable fuel which requires the right components for safe usage in various applications. LPG valve manufacturers offer different types of valves such as safety relief valveball valve, etc. for the handling of LPG. Let’s take a look at some of the factors to choose the perfect LPG valve for your requirements.

1.  Quality of the valve
Safety valves are manufactured in accordance with the leading quality standards by reputed LPG gas valve manufacturers. India’s ball valve manufacturers offer a wide range of valves for LPG applications that have passed the IS quality standards such as IS: 4576.
2.  Application of LPG valve
LPG valves are used as cooking fuels and for a number of industrial as well as commercial applications. Discuss your requirement with a valve manufacturer to understand what kind of valve will be suitable for your application.
3. Performance of the valve
The purpose of a pressure safety valve is to protect the life and property in the LPG environment from hazards due to overpressure. Choose the valve model that will open effectively at the set pressure.
While handling pressure in boilers, the Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP) of the equipment should be considered before selecting a valve. The safety valve must be set to open at or below the equipment’s MAWP. Discuss the set pressure of your valve with your valve manufacturer while choosing a valve.
4. Features of the valve
Safety valves come in standard sizes with different kinds of inlet and outlet connections. For common applications, you may find your perfect valve among the range of standard size valves available in the market. If you have a specialised project or mechanism, you may need to customise the valve features such as material, design, type, etc.
The features of the valve impact its performance. So, list down the performance expectations from the valve, then look for the valve with the right features. For example, the temperature can affect the viscosity of the gas or fluid passing through the mechanism. Materials such as steel, iron, and bronze can give varying output for a particular application where the temperature of the contents passing through the valve has to be kept within a specific range. So, choose the material for the valve as per the temperature guidelines for your desired application.
5. Cost and Maintenance
For your requirement, you may have a budget. Your procurement cost will be higher if you go for a customized valve. Also, during the maintenance of the valve, you may get standard valves easily but for customized valves, your replacement costs may be higher.
You need to choose an expert among LPG valve manufacturers to get the best valves at the best rates. Additionally, note that you are researching to choose a valve for ensuring safety so you should consider expanding your budget to a comfortable extent instead of compromising the safety of your people and property which can turn out to be more expensive if overlooked.

What Is The Working Principle Of LPG Tank Installation & Filling Station?

The LPG industry is growing with the rising consumption of LPG, a clean gas. To fill the demand-supply gap, LPG tank installation and LPG filling stations installation have also increased.

To begin with, LPG or Liquefied Petroleum Gas is a gas stored as a liquid in a gas tank. How? Pressure specifications allow engineers to store the gas in a liquid state. Low pressure is used for compressing the gas to a liquid.

How does the LPG tank work?

LPG appliances come with a mechanism that releases the pressure at the top of the LPG tank in a controlled manner. Through the mechanism, the LPG in the liquid form boils and receives enough heat to transform into the gaseous form for safe usage. An interesting thing to note here is that the LPG liquid boils at -42°C to turn into vapour.

LPG tanks are made of steel and this helps the liquid to gain heat from the ambient air for vaporization. If a higher amount of LPG gas is being used, there can be a formation of ice on the outer surface of the LPG tank.

Another amazing fact about LPG is that it is colourless and odourless. This feature of LPG can be dangerous for consumers. That’s why the composition of LPG is altered to ensure that there is an odour to alert the people handling the LPG gas in case of leakage.

Safety concerns in the LPG filling stations installation and tank installations

The design of the filling stations is planned after studying the location and weather conditions of the region. Depending on the vessel size, the vaporization rate is determined. LPG industry professionals refer to measurement tables for matching the size of vessels with the vaporization rate.

The Pressure relief valve is used for safer consumption of the LPG gas from LPG tanks or gas cylinders. Regulators are attached to control the flow of gas along with the valve.

If excessive pressure gets generated due to overfilling or due to rise in external temperatures then the pressure relief valve prevents the tank from rupturing. Thus, helping engineers to prevent an explosion that can cause damage to life and property.

Another thing to be noted is to be cautious about the level of pressure in the tank. In case, the gas vents out excess pressure then the LPG service provider should be immediately contacted from a safe distance away from the tank. Also, all personnel have to be instructed to stay away from the tank in such scenarios.

Some of the steps taken by an experienced service provider for installation of LPG filling stations are as follows:
  • Assess the installation site for suitability of the installation. The area should not have other service lines passing through it posing as a barrier. The chosen spot should not be a flood-prone area.
  • The site evaluation is completed and a report is generated.
  • If the site is approved for installation, the design plan of the installation is created.
  • Necessary approvals are taken from relevant authorities as per the laws applicable in the region before installation.
  • Tested components such as pressure relief valves, regulators, pipes and other materials are used for successful installation of the approved filling station design plan by expert engineers and other personnel.
  • Once the installation is complete, necessary test runs are carried out by safety officers to check the performance and safety of the LPG in operations.
  • After operations commence at the LPG filling stations, LPG installation service providers offer maintenance services at periodic intervals as required.

Everything You Need To Know About the LPG Vaporizers

LPG vaporizers are among the essential mechanical components for a number of commercial and industrial applications. Let’s get a basic understanding of the need for a LPG vaporizer, how it works, safety measures and other facts about LPG vaporizers.
Why do we need a LPG vaporizer?
Liquefied Petroleum Gas or LPG is a mixture of hydrocarbons, generally, propane and butane. LPG vapor is much denser than atmospheric air on earth and can easily catch fire. When exposed to air, LPG can be extremely harmful. Any leakage of the gas during storage or transportation can be risky so it is stored and transported in the liquid form.
The gas is generally stored under pressure in liquid form in a container. For safer consumption of LPG, its liquid form is converted into the gaseous form only when needed using a LPG vaporizer. The vaporization rate differs depending on the gas consuming equipment and the amount of vapor required to serve the purpose for the desired application.
Additionally, the vaporization of a compound depends on its chemical characteristics. External elements such as heat, atmospheric pressure, etc. can impact the chemical characteristics of LPG that lead to the changing phases from liquid to gas.
How an LPG vaporizer works?
A LPG vaporizer is basically a boiler or heat exchanger that is connected to LPG systems where the end user can utilize the LPG after the liquid to gas phase change takes place in the LPG vaporizer component.
ReputedLPG vaporizer manufacturers produce vaporizers that can handle large quantities of LPG and are designed to meet the requirements for a variety of applications. Vaporizers can be connected using safety relief valves to control huge amounts of LPG every hour without the need for investing in a large number of tanks. LPG filling stations installation is all that is required for supplying LPG to a huge area such as a residential complex or a commercial zone.
Hazards due to leakage can be prevented in the LPG pipeline as the gas is formed only after the liquid passes through the LPG vaporizer. Vaporizers also ensure zero wastage of the LPG and lead to cost savings.
Safety precautions in LPG Vaporizers
It is a fact that LPG, when exposed to air through possible leakages, can be catastrophic. Water is heated in the LPG Vaporizer to generate heat for a phase change. The electrical parts used in the vaporizer are safely placed in a flameproof enclosure. To ensure safety, LPG Vaporizer manufacturers include high-quality safety valves that stop the LPG liquid supply if the water temperature in the vaporizer falls below a set temperature. In case, the water temperature gets past a set temperature, the water heater connection is immediately cut off.
Established LPG vaporizer manufacturers have the capabilities to customize standard LPG vaporizers and offer tailored components as per the specific project requirements of clients.

What are the Challenges & Opportunities in the LPG Market in Bangladesh?

Among the developing countries, the economy of Bangladesh is growing at a rapid pace with a growth rate of 7.2%. LPG tank manufacturers are in demand to push the LPG demand in the country. The demand for LPG has increased at an exponential rate of 60%. The reason for this sudden rise is the suspension of natural gas connections in the country. But along with opportunities there are numerous challenges for the LPG market in Bangladesh.
Challenges in the LPG market in Bangladesh:
At the moment, Bangladesh has a LPG supply capacity of 4,00,00 MT/year which is way less than its enormous demand of 1.5 million MT/year. In the next five years, experts estimate a 400% growth in the LPG sector in Bangladesh. Although there are government initiatives to support the LPG industry, the biggest challenge to the LPG market is that the supply cannot keep pace with the demand in the industry. It will take time for investors in the LPG space to set up the infrastructure and reach out to all the areas where there is demand. A plan for LPG tank installation, LPG filling stations installation,LPG bottling plant, LPG service lines and other details to transition from CNG to LPG is necessary for carefully tackling the challenges faced by the LPG market in Bangladesh.
Opportunities in the LPG market in Bangladesh:
Initially, the Bangladesh government served its people with CNG which also included import of fuel to meet the demand in the country. But now natural gas has become scarce and costly. It will be completely depleted by 2022-2023 if new gas supply capacity isn’t added to meet the increasing demand for fuel. In the recent years, in view of the growing energy concerns, the regulatory authorities of Bangladesh took decisions to promote LPG consumption in the country.
According to an industry report, the energy division of Bangladesh estimates a gas demand of 8,000 MMCFD by 2041. Hotels and restaurants are one of the major energy usage sectors in Bangladesh. CNG will not be available for long for this sector as well as other commercial use sectors such as agriculture, lighting, metal and more. LPG will be the ideal clean alternative for catering to energy demand for commercial applications.
Some of reasons that have led to opportunities in the LPG sector are as follows:
  • Rise of entrepreneurs in the country
Economic growth, higher literacy levels and women empowerment has led to more and more entrepreneurs in Bangladesh.
  • Wealthy population with increase in the income
As per statistics, the per capita income of Bangladesh is expected to increase to US$ 1,752. The growing income is turning Bangladesh in to a middle-income country. LPG will become affordable for the financially secure citizens of the country.
  • Increasing use of LPG as an auto fuel
In Bangladesh, more than 1,000 auto gas station licenses have already been awarded by the government to promote the use of auto fuel. The target is to convert 2,50,000 vehicles into vehicles running on auto gas.
  • Tax benefits
The Bangladesh government provides tax exemption on import of LPG. Also, LPG equipment can be imported to Bangladesh at 2% less tax than the normal tax rates.

Effective Safety Monitoring in LPG Storage and Filling Plants

LPG is a combination of propane, butane, and various other organic gases which are utilized as an effective kind of energy. Companies dealing with LPG need highly experienced LPG tank manufacturers and technical experts for LPG tank installation, LPG filling stations installation and to ensure effective safety monitoring on site of LPG bottling plants.
Whenever stored under pressure, LPG turns into a dense liquid letting large volumes of gas to be stored in a compact area. In case the pressure is released, the liquid evaporates. LPG should be compressed above its vapour pressure at a specific ambient temperature to preserve it in liquid form.
For transfer and storage, the liquid state of LPG should be maintained. LPG could be shipped to distribution facilities through pipeline, train, or trucks. However, supply by road tankers continues to be the most popular transport options in several nations.
Some of the key challenges faced in an LPG storage and filling plant are as follows:
  • LPG is non-toxic in nature but high amounts of LPG vapour can dilute or reduce the oxygen in the air. This factor can have an anaesthetic effect so workers operating in such an environment have to be wearing the appropriate gear to avoid health issues due to inhaling the air.
  • The flammability of LPG is very high if it comes in contact with air. The flammability range depends on the volume of gas to air.
  • Due to limitations, there are places where LPG filling takes place manually for small LPG cylinders. Safety can be ensured by using meters and other engineering components provided by trusted LPG tank manufacturers and LPG vaporizer manufacturers.
Depending on the scale of the project, LPG filling stations require a number of technical experts and workmen. Any error can lead to denotation and unsurmountable damage. Every stage for LPG tank installation also needs particular attention when it comes to safety testing. Post installation, the LPG filling stations installation experts provide sufficient training for the operations team to ensure effective monitoring from time to time.
General Safety Monitoring Measures
UV/IR optical flame detectors and fixed gas detectors are installed for safety monitoring at LPG storage and filling plants. This safety measure helps to detect leakages in valves, flanges and other mechanical sealants used in pumps. The Infrared technology can raise an alarm on detection of high levels of gas in the surrounding area. The optical flame detector promptly alerts the personnel of flame in the filling area and prevents explosions.
Other safety monitoring actions at LPG Storage and filling plants are as follows:
  • Follow industry standard safety practices for LPG handling.
  • Take all the necessary actions needed to prevent and manage fire and explosion on the site.
  • Technology to automate and control safety monitoring devices can be extremely useful to quickly act in case of a gas leakage situation.
  • There should be proper documentation of all the tested devices used during installation.
  • Security cameras should be used by safety officers to stay vigilant and prevent intentional or accidental actions by people working on the premises.
  • Regular maintenance must be carried out as per a maintenance schedule to make sure that the components are working properly and displaying accurate readings. Timely replacement of worn out components can be done by performing regular checks of all components.
  • Health check-ups of personnel working on the site also help to protect people from health issues and manage it sooner.
  • Any mishaps on site should be reported to the authorities from time to time for ethically managing the LPG plant.
LPG Storage and Filling plants are extremely useful for fulfilling the energy requirements on residential, industrial and commercial premises. But catastrophes can be avoided if efficient safety monitoring of LPG bottling plant is strictly followed.

Assessing the Safety Operations Processes of an LPG Storage Plant

In an LPG Bottling plant, there are several risks to be prevented. It is essential for LPG tank manufacturers to implement safety measures for prevention of any undesired incident on site. Firstly, the best practices for LPG tank installation generally involve evaluation of standard safety operations procedures.
Knowledge of LPG and safety
Since LPG is odourless and not visible to naked eyes, a distinct odour is added to the gas to detect any leakage. The knowledge of qualified staff about LPG along with long-lasting products parts are essentials for a safer LPG storage plant. LPG is widely used and structured safety guidelines can reduce the risks involved in its usage.
Also, LPG is heavier than air in low-level areas so this feature of LPG makes it difficult to detect any leakage. Factors like these have to be considered by the experts managing the LPG filling station installations. LPG leakage can lead to a fire, bursting of the storage tank and more undesired hazards.
System thinking ideas along with simulation tools are utilized by manufacturers to assess the risks. Identification of risks helps to put a plan in place for safety management of LPG storage plants. A set of well-documented rules and control mechanisms along with safety training for workers ensures successful implementation of the safety processes designed by the experts.
Assessment for storing LPG
LPG can be harmful until it has been safely utilized by the end user. To ensure the safer use of LP gas, the LPG tank installation, storage and discharge should be carried out as per industry standard safety best practices. The Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) play an important role in the prevention of LPG related hazards.
The evaluation of safety procedures ensures that SOPs are designed by LPG tank manufacturers as per the scale and specifications of the LPG storage plant. The assessment also helps prepare safety procedure manuals and other communication materials for workers to understand and manage risks related to the LPG storage space.
Understanding the risks of an LPG bottling plant will help device safety plans to prevent incidents and in case of an incident, tackle the situation in the best possible way to ensure minimum damage by following the safety protocols.
Here is a chart describing the likely sequence of events that can take place after LPG release:
LPG Release

Following are some of the key operational areas to be assessed for a safer LPG bottling plant:
  • As per a document published by DGFASLI, the impact of a breakage in the LPG pipeline is affected by the diameter of the pipeline. Reducing the diameter of the LPG gas pipeline will ensure that the gas leakage will lead to lesser damage to life and property.
  • The chances of LPG discharge line breakage can be minimized if the line is placed through the roof of the LPG storage tanks.
  • LPG tank installations have to be made as per a set capacity to avoid leakage. Small capacity tanks take lesser time to discharge the gas while emptying the tanks.
  • The LPG storage tanks should be kept at a sufficient distance from each other. Isolated tanks reduce the possibility of a greater safety concern i.e. one tank leakage triggering the bursting of the other.
Experienced LPG tank manufacturers and LPG vaporizer manufacturers are aware of the risk assessments and safety procedures to avoid mishaps at LPG plants. For efficient and safer LPG tank installations, you need the expertise of highly experienced LPG Tank manufacturers.

What is Heaterless Vaporizer?

To vaporize liquid LPG for various applications, LPG vaporizer manufacturers have come up with the heaterless vaporizers. It is definitely a better alternative to the conventional electrical vaporizers in many ways. To understand why the heaterless LPG vaporizer is better, let’s find out how it functions and what its underlying benefits are.
How does the heaterless vaporizer work?
The heaterless vaporizer or HLV utilizes the principle of thermodynamics wherein its design reduces the temperature and pressure of liquid LPG. Unlike the conventional electrical vaporizer, a heaterless vaporizer, as the name suggests, eliminates the need for electrical heaters to produce heat for vaporizing the LPG.
In a conventional electrical vaporizer, the liquid LPG is passed through a hot water bath where electrical heaters are used to heat the water and maintain the temperature. Here, the liquid LPG gets vaporized by absorbing the heat from the surrounding water bath. Heaterless vaporizer, on the other hand, uses a heat exchanger to vaporize liquid LPG.
In HLVs, the required temperature and pressure are maintained by continuous and closed-loop flow of water from a storage tank. The Heaterless LPG vaporizer system is designed in such a way that it does not require an external supply of electrical power for supply of heat. The only electric supply required is for running the water pump.
The thermodynamic characteristics of volatile liquids are taken into account in the design of the heaterless vaporizers. What actually happens? The fluid is flash evaporated by throttling the flow. The fluid is passed through a pressure reducing valve and then, the drop in pressure leads to chilling. And the ambient water supplies the required heat for vaporizing the fluid.
Benefits of Heaterless Vaporizer
Some of the key advantages of using heaterless vaporizers are as follows:
  • Performance
Heaterless LPG vaporizers are capable of satisfactory functioning at ambient temperatures of up to 4° C.Instrumentation such as interlocks, liquid level pressure switch, water flow switch with fire safe ball valves etc. ensure safer operations.
  • User-friendly Operations
Industry-recognized LPG vaporizer manufacturers offer a simplified control panel with the system.User-friendly panels to operate the instrumentation makes the heaterless vaporizer comfortable for use by operators. Less maintenance means fewer problems to tackle for operators as well.
  • Huge savings
The absence of electrical heater leads to less energy consumption for the LPG liquid vaporization process. Also, an optimized workflow with fewer maintenance expenses leads to more savings in the long term. Although the initial investment is high for a heaterless vaporizer, the low cost of operations can help recover the cost in 2 to 6 months as per running time.
  • Eco-friendly
Low energy usage reduces the carbon footprint. It ensures that you are using a more energy-efficient and environment-friendly process for vaporizing LPG.
To conclude, with heaterless LPG vaporizers, the consumption of electrical power can be minimized considerably and the carbon footprint is also less. In addition, you can save on the cost of operations considerably. Heaterless vaporizers are safer and require less maintenance compared to the electrical vaporizers. In the long term, heaterless vaporizers are more cost-effective as well.

LPG industry growing rapidly in Bangladesh

Among the countries in Asia, Bangladesh has been known for its natural gas consumption for several years. Since the natural gas reserves are depleting day by day, the LPG industry is growing at a rapid pace in the country. The government has also realised that the need for alternative energy sources can be met by increasing the number of LPG service providers and supporting the LPG tank manufacturers in Bangladesh.
Liquefied Petroleum Gas or LPG is a popular alternative to natural gas. Propane and Butane are the main constituents of LPG. LPG, also known as auto gas, is used for a variety of purposes in areas such as constructions, sailing, agriculture, hospitals and so on. Due to the low amount of heavy metals and lead-free content in its chemical composition, LPG is also considered a greener alternative to natural energy resources.
Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) began supply of LPGs in Bangladesh in the 1980s.With a large number of private players entering the LPG market today, there will be a rise in the number of LPG bottling plants and LPG tank installations. LPG filling stations installation will be set up in many regions too. As per the recent report by World LPG Association (WLPGA), the demand for fuel in Bangladesh will reach 3.0 million tonnes by 2025.
Factors driving the LPG industry’s growth in Bangladesh:
  1. Rising demand for LPG among consumers
Bangladesh is a growing economy. The income level per family is rising too. With natural gas shortage in future, the demand of LPG services will increase. LPG prices are affected by global fuel prices. Government subsidies can be a relief for private players to offer competitive prices for LPG services. Also, the increasing earning potential of the people will make it easier for them to switch to LPG usage.
  1. Government Initiatives for auto LPG
Other than LPG tank installation for households, there is opportunity for LPG tank manufacturers in Bangladesh in the automobile sector. The Bangladesh government has already released the rules and regulations for auto LPG conversion centres and auto LPG filling stations. These initiatives will encourage switching from CNG to LPG for automobile owners in Bangladesh.
  1. LPG licenses for private companies
When the demand for LPG increases in the market in the future, there will be a number of LPG service providers for consumers to choose from. The Bangladesh government has already granted licenses for LPG services to over thirty private operators.
  1. Opportunities in rural markets
Other than rising demand for LPG in urban markets, there is untapped potential in the rural markets. There are rural areas in Bangladesh where piped gas services have not reached yet and the existing energy supply may not be enough. This also means that there is immense opportunity for LPG vapourizer manufacturers and LPG tank manufacturers in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is one of the rapidly growing developing countries in Asia. There are several private companies including LPG tank manufacturers who look forward to increase their plant capacities and upgrade their operations. Operational efficiencies will lead to better customer services in a competitive LPG market of the future.
While the LPG market in Bangladesh grows, there will be need for high-quality engineering products as well. Outsourcing of these LPG products from reputed global players will help reduce the cost of LPG filling stations installation.

LPG is and will continue to be a major source for cooking and its share in vehicle industry is also going up with time. To ensure convenience of the mass and easy availability of LPG, refilling stations have to be set up. It is necessary to buy parts from the right agency and hiring apt ones for setting up LPG filling stations is also necessary.
Prerequisite for setting up LPG Filling center
Setting up LPG filling stations involves installation of important parts and spares and a company well versed in this sector can handle such tasks. LPG being a highly inflammable substance, it becomes necessary to assess credibility and capability of available contenders and choose the one making highest quality product. Quite often, the companies manufacturing such specialized products also offer lpg tank installation for the buyers and clients.
Buying the right parts and components
The vane pump is among the most important parts used in setting up LPG filling centers, as it is. It is better to acquire quality rotary vane pumps with enhanced mechanical efficiency from reputed manufacturers. This ensures LPG filling and transfer can be handled without hassles and risk of leakage will be very low. It is also necessary to procure high quality parts like LPG gas vaporizer, safety relief valves and electric propane vaporizer to set up refilling stations.
How to choose the manufacturers
For LPG filling and transfers at the refilling stations, buying highest quality products is a need you simply cannot ignore. Using the following tips to assess the manufacturers will be useful:
  • Tenure- First of all, you need to learn about tenure of the manufacturing company. A company with long tenure and experience in manufacturing products required for LPG handling is better than new ones.
  • Clientele- The existing clientele and completed projects of the lpg filling stations installation company have to be analyzed with care. It is better to go for products and services of a company that has several coveted clients, including international ones.
  • Safety protocols and certifications-The company manufacturing LPG filling and transfer components should adhere to industry standard safety protocols. It is always better to pick a company that is known for compliance to manufacturing safety standards and has credible certification in this regard. Some of the lpg bottling plant manufacturers and installers resort to cutting edge and patented technologies to manufacture specific parts and pumps for use in LPG stations.
